Introduction
The Domain Name System Entrepreneurship Center (DNS-EC) is the
first center
in Africa and the Middle East founded to foster the domain name
industry ecosystem and act as a repository for the domain name system
in the region.
DNS-EC was announced as a joint project between the Internet
Corporation for
Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) & the National Telecommunication
Regulatory
Authority of Egypt (NTRA) in June 2014. ICANN, through partnership
with experts
in the field, provides training workshops, material and mentoring
programs and
NTRA incubates DNS-EC for the first three years, including the
hiring of a small team.
We aim to contribute to the evolution of the domain name sector
in Africa and
the Middle East, building upon the experiences and lessons of the
growing number
of registrars, and new gTLD registries. DNS-EC will become the
hub and incubator
of the next generation of DNS entrepreneurs.
